Macaroni and Cheese with Crab Meat Recipe
Macaroni and cheese, a comfort food that never disappoints. It’s also a crowd pleaser dish for kids and adults. This recipe isn’t a typical mac and cheese dish because I’ve added a bit of crabmeat. This is for a pasta and seafood lover. It takes a few steps but it is a yummy addition to any meal.

Ingredients:
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 3-4 cups of macaroni
- 3-4 tablespoons of butter
- 2 tablespoons of chopped green onion or chives
- 2 teaspoons of minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon of Old Bay seafood seasoning
- 1/2 cup of almond milk or milk
- 1/3 teaspoon of thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 2 basil leaves chopped finely
- 1/2 a medium yellow sweet pepper chopped
- 1 can of crab meat or fresh crab meat (drain can of any liquid)
- 1/2 cup of grated white cheddar
- 1/2 cup grated Havarti cheese
- 1/2 cup of grated parmesan cheese
- 1-2 pieces of Laughing Cow Cheese (Chives and Onion or any other flavour you prefer)
- 3/4 cup of panko bread crumbs (seasoned with parsley, onion and garlic powder)

Directions:
- Boil a large pot of water and add salt for cooking the macaroni (approximately 12-15minutes)
- Drain the water out of the pot and leave a little of the pasta water in the pot with the cooked pasta (approximately 1/4 cup of pasta water)
- Place the pot with cooked macaroni on medium-low heat on the stovetop
- Add the butter, Laughing Cow creamy cheese and garlic to the pot with the macaroni and stir for a minute
- Add the green onion, Old Bay seasoning, salt, black pepper, thyme, smoked paprika, basil, cyellow pepper to the pot and stir for a minute
- Add the can of cooked crabmeat to the pot and stir for a couple minutes
- Add the almond milk, the grated white cheddar and parmesan cheese to the pot and stir frequently until cheese is all melted for approximately 3-5 minutes
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
- Place the macaroni and cheese mixed ingredients from the pot into a casserole dish
- Sprinkle the Havarti grated cheese on top of the macaroni until it is covered with the cheese
- Sprinkle the panko bread crumbs to cover the top of the macaroni and cheese
- Bake in casserole dish until cheese is bubbling and the panko is golden brown (approx. 10-15 minutes)
- Let it cool for a couple minutes and serve.

I added the Laughing Cow creamy cheese because I was using almond milk that isn’t creamy like milk and to add another layer of cheesy goodness. I enjoy the addition of the seafood with mac and cheese and it makes a good standalone meal or a side dish. I hope you enjoy this recipe and I’d love to hear what your perfect combination is for your mac and cheese favourite recipes.
